Davis Polk Advises Mitsubishi UFJ Aircraft Leasing Unit on $1.3 Billion U.S. Acquisition
Davis Polk & Wardwell?is advising Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance Co. on its $1.3 billion acquisition of Jackson Square Aviation LCC, an aircraft-leasing company based in San Francisco.
The sellers of Jackson Square are a group of funds affiliated with Los Angeles-based investment company Oaktree Capital Management. The transaction is pending regulatory approvals, and is expected to close before the end of the year.
The acquisition will give Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance, the aircraft-leasing arm of Japanese banking giant Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc., more than 70 planes to add to its commercial aircraft fleet.
Davis Polk New York partner Philip Mills is leading working on the deal. Partners Juliet Cain in New York and Kyoko Takahashi Lin in Tokyo are also involved in the representation.
Oaktree Capital and Jackson Square are being advised by?Kirkland & Ellis?Los Angeles partner Damon Fisher as well as?Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison?partners Neil Goldman in Los Angeles, Kenneth Schneider in New York, and Kaye Yoshino in Tokyo.
Mayer Brown?New York partners Robert Barnard and George Miller are also advising the sellers on regulatory aspects of the transaction.
