Earlier this week I attended a local business to business networking event sponsored by Rick Gosser of Gosser Corporate Sales. He was celebrating his business anniversary by bringing in some of his vendors to showcase their promotional products. I went with another local small business owner, Paul Kennedy. to support Rick first because this was not about me, but about him and his local small business success.
During this business to business networking event I met several other small business owners including Angela Ramos of Inspiration Fitness and Dan Rosenberger. Angela had an open house the previous week to celebrate the relocation of her business to a larger facility.? Rick was in attendance there to support her.? Sales Training Coaching Tip:? Last year around the Christmas buying season, ?buy local? became a mantra for many small businesses. This attitude and more importantly behaviors of ?buy local? appeared to have died just as quickly as the holiday mantra of? ?Peace and Good Will.?
Now some who read this post may have as what my husband calls ?tight shorts.?? They may be thinking, I hardly have time to market my own business, attend to my own sales, do what I need to do less alone support others.? These folks are so infected with the ?poor me sales syndrome? it is oozing out from every pore in their bodies.
Get over it!
With so many small business owners engaged in content marketing which is really education based marketing, they are sharing their content under the auspices of this ?poor me sales syndrome.?? These folks are truly clueless about what makes a great blog content as Martha Griffin recently posted.

Zoo Educators: Saving the Animals, One Person at a Time
Zoo InternQuest is a seven-week career exploration program for San Diego County high school juniors and seniors. Students have the unique opportunity to meet professionals working for the San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, and Institute for Conservation Research, learn about their jobs, and then blog about their experience online. On our first week of Zoo InternQuest all of us were excited by the unknown. We sat in a secluded area of the Zoo and waited for the Zoo Educator, Kim Carroll. When Ms. Carroll came out to greet us she wasn?t alone. Along with her was Kizzy, a beautiful African grey parrot. She told us a bit of information about Kizzy and how her species is one of the most intelligent birds in the world. Unfortunately, like other parrots, African greys are threatened due to habitat loss and the pet trade.
Before Kizzy came to the Zoo, she was kept as a pet. Birds can be very difficult to take care of. They are very vocal animals because in the wild that is their way of communicating with each other. When they become pets, they don?t lose that communication skill and, in turn, they can be very loud in an enclosed area such as a home. Also, birds can be very messy eaters because they have to crack open seeds in order to eat. This may seem like a hassle for a pet owner but, in the wild, birds do this and help spread seeds that can grow into trees and other plants. Another thing to consider if you or someone you know is thinking about getting a pet bird like Kizzy: a lot of birds can live to be fifty years old or more! So, if you get a bird at the age of ten, it can be your responsibility until you are about sixty years old. That?s a long time and a huge commitment to a pet.
Kizzy is now living at the Zoo and playing an important role as an Animal Ambassador. This means that Zoo Educators like Ms. Carroll take her to schools, hospitals and senior care facilities to educate people about wildlife and conservation. Growing Up Green, for example, is a program for children ages three to seven years old which introduces the concept of recycling. The Zoo leaves children with key messages, including the importance of conservation, awareness of endangered species and how each person can do little things to help save wildlife.
After the private session with the Animal Ambassadors, Ms. Carroll took us on an Inside Look Tour to update us on all the renovations at the San Diego Zoo. This tour is a perfect opportunity for guests to get up-close and personal with some of the animals. It?s also a perfect opportunity for the Zoo to show off its conservation side. For example, on one of the last stops of the tour we came to the Bactrian camel enclosure. Ms. Carroll pointed out how of part the enclosure was made from compressed recycled plastic that had been conformed into wooden-like fencing. Keepers have discovered their own way to walk the talk. Physicists create working transistor consisting of a single atom
ScienceDaily (Feb. 19, 2012) ? In a remarkable feat of micro-engineering, an international team of researchers, including physicists at the University of New South Wales in Australia, have created a working transistor consisting of a single atom placed precisely in a silicon crystal.
The tiny electronic device, described in a paper published in the journal Nature Nanotechnology, uses as its active component an individual phosphorus atom patterned between atomic-scale electrodes and electrostatic control gates.
This unprecedented atomic accuracy may yield the elementary building block for a future quantum computer with unparalleled computational efficiency.
Until now, single-atom transistors have been realised only by chance, where researchers either have had to search through many devices or tune multi-atom devices to isolate one that works.
"But this device is perfect," says Professor Michelle Simmons, group leader and director of the ARC Centre for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology at UNSW. "This is the first time anyone has shown control of a single atom in a substrate with this level of precise accuracy."
The microscopic device even has tiny visible markers etched onto its surface so researchers can connect metal contacts and apply a voltage, says research fellow and lead author Dr Martin Fuechsle from UNSW.
"Our group has proved that it is really possible to position one phosphorus atom in a silicon environment -- exactly as we need it -- with near-atomic precision, and at the same time register gates," he says.
The device is also remarkable, says Dr Fuechsle, because its electronic characteristics exactly match theoretical predictions undertaken with Professor Gerhard Klimeck's group at Purdue University in the US and Professor Hollenberg's group at the University of Melbourne, the joint authors on the paper.
The UNSW team used a scanning tunnelling microscope (STM) to see and manipulate atoms at the surface of the crystal inside an ultra-high vacuum chamber. Using a lithographic process, they patterned phosphorus atoms into functional devices on the crystal then covered them with a non-reactive layer of hydrogen.
Hydrogen atoms were removed selectively in precisely defined regions with the super-fine metal tip of the STM. A controlled chemical reaction then incorporated phosphorus atoms into the silicon surface.
Finally, the structure was encapsulated with a silicon layer and the device contacted electrically using an intricate system of alignment markers on the silicon chip to align metallic connects. The electronic properties of the device were in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions for a single phosphorus atom transistor.
It is predicted that transistors will reach the single-atom level by about 2020 to keep pace with Moore's Law, which describes an ongoing trend in computer hardware that sees the number of chip components double every 18 months.
This major advance has developed the technology to make this possible well ahead of schedule and gives valuable insights to manufacturers into how devices will behave once they reach the atomic limit, says Professor Simmons.

Updated at 7:20 a.m. ET: Police have detained British heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora following his brawl with former WBA champion David Haye at a post-fight press conference on Saturday night.
Police spokesman Gottfried Schlicht told The Associated Press that Chisora and his coach were detained at Munich airport and were being questioned.
Schlicht said police are still looking for Haye, who wasn't at his hotel and "we don't know where he is."
The brawl occurred during a news conference after Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko retained his WBC heavyweight belt, scoring a unanimous points decision over challenger Chisora in Munich's Olympic Hall.
NBC Sports: Kitschko defends title, then fight gets nasty
Haye, who had been working as a television pundit, became agitated by comments made by Klitschko's manager, Bernd Boente, and began to heckle from the back of the conference.
That escalated until Chisora finally grabbed a microphone and stepped down from the main table into the media seating area to confront Haye.
Haye's manager Booth suffered a cut above his eye following the scuffle, thought to be caused by a camera tripod knocked over in the melee.
The whole incident took place in front of dozens of cameras, and can be seen in this uncensored YouTube clip, uploaded by sports website bokser.org, which contains audible bad language throughout.
"I'm totally disappointed, it went a little too far, the sport of boxing shouldn't be like that," Klitschko told the BBC after watching the fight.
The BBC reported that Chisora allegedly threatened to shoot Haye follwing the incident. It said Chisora accused Haye of "glassing him", before saying at least four times that he would shoot Haye, adding: "If David don't fight me, I am going to physically burn him."

The commander of the International Space Station, Daniel Burbank, shook hands Wednesday with Robonaut. It's the first handshake ever between a human and a humanoid in space.
NASA's Robonaut was launched aboard space shuttle Discovery last February. Crews have been testing it to see how it one day might help astronauts perform space station chores.
On Wednesday, ground controllers activated computer software that enabled the robot to extend its right hand, fingers outstretched. Burbank took the mechanical hand and pumped it up and down, as the robot's fingers tightened around his hand.
"The first human-humanoid handshake in space," Burbank proclaimed.
A cheer went up in the control room in Huntsville, Ala.
"For the record, it was a firm handshake," Burbank radioed. "Quite an impressive robot."
Robonaut ? the first humanoid in space, built from the waist up ? said via Twitter that it was an awesome experience, then followed up with some sign language.
"The handshake was definitely one of the highlights of the day, but I'm not done yet," Robonaut said in a tweet. (A NASA spokeswoman actually files the tweets under the handle AstroRobonaut.)
"Did you catch that? I don't have a voice, but I sent you a message -- Hello world ... in sign language!" Robonaut tweeted. "What a day! I passed my tests with flying colors!!!"
Dutch space station astronaut Andre Kuipers couldn't resist a little robot humor.
"Now let's hope he's never heard of HAL9000, Skynet or Cylons," Kuipers wrote in a tweet.
HAL was the conspiring computer in "2001: A Space Odyssey." The people-hating artificial intelligence system Skynet is from the "Terminator" films, while Cylons are cyber-warriors from "Battleship Gallactica."
Robonaut spends most of its time in hibernation aboard the space station. The astronauts bring the humanoid out every so often for testing; it was awakened in space last August and made its first motion in October. A future model could venture outside for spacewalks, saving its human companions time and keeping them safe.

Grief And Loss ? Exploring Death After Bereavement | Self ...
Loss forces us to look upon the massive question of what occurs after death. In our modern society, with loss of life carefully hidden from us and the quest of everlasting youth predominant, we are badly equipped to cope with it when it happens.
All of us have had the experience of shedding a loved one and of people turning away from us, scared to acknowledge our loss. People we thought had been our pals disappeared within the waves of grief and we had been left alone with scant few to help us climate the storm. Those that remained with us struggled to help us, as confused as us by our personal experience. They didn?t have the answers any greater than us as to what happens after death.
